Arbor Day falls every year on June 5. It is much more than the start of the tree planting season - think of it as a celebration of everything that depends on trees and the importance of them in our daily lives. These ideas are to help you and your class celebrate the day with purpose and at the same time have some fun - it is a celebration! Living world strand of science plus many cross-curricular links.

  •  An information guide on how to plant and care for trees
  • Activities for year levels 1,2,3 and 4 based on the aims of environmental education
  • Identification/information sheets for 6 of New Zealand’s native tree species.
  • A booklist with a selection of readings on trees from picture books suitable for younger students, through to reference books suitable for teachers.
